Yokocho ★★★★

Image
101/200 Bourke St Melbourne  VIC 3000 Australia Yokocho translates to “Alley Way” in Japanese and is the perfect name for this eatery located upstairs in the Mid City Arcade. Their dishes focus on the iconic stars of Japanese cuisine like sushi and sashimi, yakitori and tempura. Served alongside the food is a decent selection of cocktails and drinks. Everything is presented beautifully and with only the freshest ingredients. The flavours are delicious and would definitely recommend trying out! Tuna Tatare $17 with Truffle Mayo  Very fresh tuna which went well with the mayo ★★★ King Fish Ceviche $15 with Sweet & Spicy House Sauce  Generously thick slices of ceviche that just melts in your mouth. ★★★☆ Salmon Ceviche $15 with Yuzu Soy & Wasabi Mayo  MOST POPULAR! Loved the wasabi mayo with the salmon! Gives it a great kick of flavour. The yuzu was a delicious addition too. ★★★★☆ Chicken Karaage (3 pcs) $13 frie...

Om Nom Kitchen ★★★★

Image
187 Flinders Lane Melbourne VIC 3000 Australia Om Nom Kitchen is the perfect place for dessert connoisseurs! Their desserts are some of the best I’ve had in Melbourne and I would definitely recommend trying them out. Their desserts are more of an elaborate dish rather than the usual scoop of ice cream or slice of cake. They're not only beautifully presented, but also taste amazing with lots of different textures and flavours that go together perfectly!  Om Nom Choc Nut Bomb $28 Peanut Butter Parfait, Peanut Butter Powder, Chocolate Coated Rice Bubbles, Raspberry Fluid Gel and Dehydrated Chocolate Mousse This was probably the least impressive of all the desserts. Still a great option and perfect for those who like peanut butter and chocolate, but wasn’t outstanding.  ★★☆ Granny Smith’s Panna Cotta Party $24 Vanilla Panna Cotta, Green Apple Jelly, Cinnamon & White Chocolate Powder, Compressed Apple, Green Apple Sorbet, Lime & Green Tea Meri...

Dong Ting ★★☆

Image
295-297 Elizabeth Street Melbourne VIC 3000 Australia Dong Ting is a Chinese restaurant that specialises in Hunan flavours, especially those with a bit of spice. It has a generously sized dining area that’s clean and simple. The dishes are definitely on the pricier side with smaller than usual portion sizes but the food has decent flavour. Service is a bit slow and unreliable.  Probably wouldn’t come back.   Hunan Stir Fried Pork $25.80 Very expensive for such a small portion of stir fried pork. Great flavour and good with rice though.    ★★★ Steamed Silver Carp in Chilli Sauce $29.80 Just a steamed fish head in chilli. Not worth the price. Still a bit fishy in flavour.    ★ Signature Yabby $42.80 Good flavour and generous size of the yabby. Fun to munch on.    ★★★☆ Eggplant and Snake Bean $18.80 Dish was good but a bit on the oily and expensive side. Good with rice.   ★★☆ Menu ...

Ippudo QV ★★★

Image
QV Shopping Centre 18/300 Lonsdale Street Melbourne VIC 3000 Australia Ippudo has been my favourite ramen chain all around the world - I've had it in Sydney, Japan, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, United States and have always found it delicious. But the home team at the Melbourne branch was very disappointing. Apart from being overpriced, the food was mediocre. The ramen didn't have the richness that I was used to, and the meat wasn't as tender. I also had some service miscommunication with the in-training staff, but that was understandable as it's a newly opened store. Left disappointed and a little sad, so may come back down the track to give it another shot. Shiromaru Motoaji with Special Combination $24 came with the Gyoza Set for extra $4 Perfect bit sized dumplings! Lightly crispy outside with a juicy filling ★★★★ Side salad that came with Gyoza Set  Sad salad. Not satisfying or filling ★★...

Nong Tang Noodle House ★★★★

Image
16/200 Bourke Street Melbourne VIC 3000 Australia Nong Tang Noodle House is a great little place in the Mid City Arcade perfect for some authentic Shanghai/Chinese style dishes. Extensive menu options at very reasonable prices. Loved the dumplings and pork meatballs! Great flavour and would recommend!    Shanghai Traditional Pan Fried Pork Dumplings (12pcs) $12.80 Amazing crispy bottoms on these guys! Juicy fillings too    ★★★★☆ Mini Pork Steamed Bun (8pcs) $8.50 Great soupy filling but the dumpling skin was a bit thicker than what I prefer   ★★★☆ Stir Fried Thick Rice Noodle with Beef $12.80 Soft and tender beef with delicious rice noodles.    ★★★★ Shanghai Braised Pork Meatballs in Soy Sauce and Rice $12.80 MOST POPULAR! My favourite dish of the day! The meatballs were so soft and tender! The soy sauce flavouring was perfect to mix with the rice.    ★★★★☆ Nong Tang Noo...
